Chef-Driven Burgers on the West Side

Big Orange is a Yellow Rocket Concepts room, which means the burger program here carries more kitchen intention than the suburban address might suggest. The West Little Rock location sits in the chain-heavy Chenal corridor, but the food operates at a different standard than its neighbors. The Arkansas sharp cheddar and bacon burger is the anchor: sharp, local cheese and bacon on a properly built patty, the kind of combination that reads as straightforward until it arrives and the sourcing becomes obvious. The sweet potato fries run alongside most orders and hold their own as a side worth ordering deliberately rather than by default.

The seasonal shake rounds out the three-item shortlist that repeat visitors tend to converge on. The room draws families, especially on Friday evenings when the dining room fills with children and parents who know the drill. Counter culture here is relaxed, the pace moves, and the floor stays attentive enough that solo diners and large tables both get tended to. That attentiveness shows up consistently in how the room handles volume, which on a weekend evening is considerable.

For West Little Rock specifically, Big Orange fills a real gap: moderately priced, independently operated within a local group, and executing at a level the national burger chains in the same corridor cannot match. Yellow Rocket built its reputation on the Heights side of the city starting in 2008, and this location extends that same chef-driven standard westward. It is not the kind of room that reinvents Arkansas dining, but it does not need to. The standard here is consistency, and the record supports it.

The Arkansas sharp cheddar and bacon burger is the order. Ask for the sweet potato fries as the side and check the current seasonal shake before committing to a drink.

№ 04 · The Verdict

What earns the 5.7

01
Local group, real standards

Yellow Rocket Concepts brings the same chef-driven approach to West Little Rock that built its reputation in the Heights.

02
The burger holds up

The Arkansas sharp cheddar and bacon burger is the reason regulars return, and the sweet potato fries are not an afterthought.

03
Family volume, attentive floor

The room runs busy on weekends and the service keeps pace, which is the operational test a high-covers family room either passes or fails.

How we score

The Insider Score is our own 10-point editorial rating, set by the writer who covers the room. It is never an average of other sites’ stars, and it is never for sale. It weighs three things:

01Track record

How highly a kitchen rates, across how many diners, over how long.

02Consistency

Whether recent diners still agree with the long-term verdict.

03Distinction

What the kitchen does that its category does not.

Big Orange | West Little Rock earns a 5.7, solid on our scale for Burgers in Little Rock.
